Ronkonkoma Chamber’s 11th Annual Scholarship 2016
During our Annual Street Fair held in Lake Ronkonkoma on Labor Day Weekend 2015, the Ronkonkoma Chamber of Commerce raised funds for scholarships to our graduating seniors.
The Ronkonkoma Chamber of Commerce is awarding two (2) $500 scholarships, to be distributed in June 2016, to students at Connetquot High School and two (2) $500 scholarships, to be distributed in June 2016, to students at Sachem High School North.
One recipient from each school will be a current business student and the other will be a student receiving special education services.
Chamber of Commerce Business Student Scholarship
- Student must be a graduating senior
- Student must be a resident of Ronkonkoma or Lake Ronkonkoma
- Student must have an overall non-weighted average of at least an 80
- Student must have taken a minimum of two (2) business courses with grades of at least an 80 in each course, unweighted
- Student must be accepted into a college or post-secondary school in business
- Student must submit a written essay about himself/herself and advise which college or post-secondary institution he/she has accepted (Acceptance letter will be fine)
- Application must be accompanied with three (3) letters of recommendation – 2 from school personnel – such as guidance counselor, administrator, or teacher and one letter from a business teacher
- A copy of the student’s high school transcript must accompany application

Special Education Student Scholarship
- Student must be a graduating senior
- Student must be a resident of Ronkonkoma or Lake Ronkonkoma
- Student must have an overall non-weighted average of at least an 80
- Student must be classified with a disability and be receiving special education services
- Student must be accepted into a college or post-secondary school program
- Student must submit a written essay about himself/herself and advise which college or post-secondary institution he/she has accepted (Acceptance letter will be fine)
- Application must be accompanied with three (3) letters of recommendation – 2 from school personnel – such as guidance counselor, administrator, or teacher and one letter from a special educator
- A copy of the student’s high school transcript must accompany application
Please drop off or mail the application, essay, high school transcript, the letters of recommendation and copy of college or post-secondary school acceptance to your High School Guidance Office.
Brookhaven Town Coalition of
Chambers of Commerce Scholarship
This Scholarship is not provided by the Ronkonkoma Chamber of Commerce but by the “Brookhaven Coalition of Chambers of Commerce.”
Scholarship Value: $1,000.00
Eligibility Requirements:
- Any Town of Brookhaven 2017 graduating High School Senior.
- Must be continuing their education in business-college, trade school, etc.
- Must submit a 500 word essay answering, “Why I want to continue my education in business.”

Judging for scholarships takes place March 1, 2017
Will be awarded at the Brookhaven Coalition of Chambers of Commerce Member of the Year Reception in April, 2017.
