Holiday 2021 President’s Message
I would like to thank our long-time Chamber member, ServPro of Ronkonkoma, for making our holiday celebrations possible. They are installing the Christmas lights and decorations on the Christmas Tree at Raynor County Park this week and have recently installed the Hanukkah Menorah. On Sunday, November 28, Rabbi Rosenthal from the B’nai Israel Temple of Oakdale along with Kevin and Shawn Hyms have conducted the Hanukkah Menorah lighting and prayers.
This year our annual Christmas Tree Lighting will be back as usual at Raynor County Park on Sunday, December 5 beginning at 1:30 P.M. Join the Ronkonkoma Chamber for the Annual Christmas Tree Lighting and arrival of Santa Claus at 2:00 P.M. Live entertainment by Tony Mingoia, Now & Then Entertainment, and the Cherokee Street and Nokomis Elementary School Choirs. Free raffle as well!
With Thanksgiving behind us, the holiday shopping season is now in full swing. It is great to see our community moving past the Pandemic crisis with more businesses reopening and moving into Ronkonkoma. The Board of Directors of the Ronkonkoma Chamber of Commerce are asking our local businesses and community residents to encourage shoppers of the value and importance of shopping local and supporting our small businesses. We have gone back to holding regular, in-person, monthly meetings. Please join us on Tuesday, December 7, 6:00 P.M. at the Alston Clubhouse in the new Ronkonkoma Hub to hear about the Ronkonkoma Hub Updates from TRITEC and Alston. Admission is free. Our January meeting will be a speed networking event, so bring plenty of business cards. Our friends at Pet Drug Store have recently joined the Ronkonkoma Chamber as a Platinum member and have offered to host our February Chamber meeting. They are a local business in Ronkonkoma and offer very competitive pricing for pet medicines and supplies. I would also like to thank all of the following new Chamber members who have recently joined: Excelaire LLC, Hawthorne Global Aviation Services, Retro Fitness, Windows on the Lake, Rapid Restore Disaster Recovery Experts, Bandalos Law Group and World Teaching Ministry of Jesus. We wish all of our new Chamber members great success.
In 2022 the Ronkonkoma Chamber of Commerce plans to get back to our pre-Pandemic community events. We will be presenting a Memorial Day Weekend Ronkonkoma Street Festival to honor our Veterans, participate in the Memorial Day Parade, resume our Annual Heart & Soul Awards night, hold our traditional Labor Day Weekend Ronkonkoma Street Festival, resume our Taste of Ronkonkoma event, celebrate the traditional Hanukkah and Christmas Holidays and have a few new surprises for the community as well. In order for these events to be successful, we will be shortly setting up various committees. We welcome volunteers from our local businesses and community to serve on these committees.
On behalf of the Ronkonkoma Chamber of Commerce, we wish all of our local businesses and residents a very enjoyable, happy and safe Christmas, Hanukkah and Kwanza. May 2022 be a more rewarding and successful year!
Kevin L. Hyms – President
